Religion vs Science

This Process of Science deals with scientific theory and facts. Religion deals with beliefs. Religion and Science should never be in conflict.

There can be no conflict between either scientific theory or fact and beliefs. If you feel there is a conflict then you are misinterpreting either; scientific theory or fact or beliefs.

Science never asks anyone to believe, and beliefs should never overrule what we can confidently prove.

God vs Science

The Process of Science only deals with ideas that can be proven false. Because the  existence of God can never be proven false, it must fall outside of the scientific domain.

For example, if science discovers the atom, it can be countered with God created atoms. If science then discovers quarks, it can be countered with God created quarks. The concept of God created something can never be proven false so it has no scientific value.

If you are religious, this is not saying that God does not exist. Rather that science cannot be interested in God as a scientific concept.

Beliefs vs Scientific Theories or Facts

If you are religious, you must agree that God has created humans with an intelligence that sets us above all other animals. The intelligence God gave you allows you to use logic, reason, evidence and fact to make decisions in areas where logic, reason, evidence and fact exist.

If God did not intend this, why did he create your intelligence?

Your beliefs should never overrule what we can confidently prove.

"Theory" vs "Theory"

Do not confuse the everyday use of the word 'theory" with the way science (and this Project) uses the word "theory".

Theory	an untested hunch or guess.
Scientific Theory	an explanation of an aspect of the natural world that:: can incorporates laws, hypothesis, evidence and facts that can be repeatably tested that can be proven false

 

Who inspired the books contents?

Content creators, such as Universe Today,  SciManDan (YouTube) and SGU (podcast) must work very hard undoing the damage caused by either conmen or people without basic scientific knowledge.

They are constantly explaining areas such as bias, cognitive dissonance and the scientific processes.

This book is designed to provide a short & simplified explanation of knowledge, personal bias, scientific theory, and the process of science.

How does this project work?

The authors created a science book that is both freely available and sold for 1 cent per copy.

We hope enough copies are purchased so we can go to the record keeping agencies, show our (official Shopify) order details and break country and global book sale records.

Why not get behind a existing science book?

There are many great science books that have been highly successful and would be a suitable candidate for this project. However, we required a science book that ...

• Was  a single book to focus on.
• Was available for free and could be sold for 1 cent per copy.
• Was 1 page for marketing reasons. Which we nearly achieved.

Some of the biggest-selling science books (all popular science books as they have the broadest appeal) are believed to be:

1. Cosmos by Carl Sagan (40 million)
2. A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking (25 million)
3. The Naked Ape by Desmond Morris (20 million)

Why is this book freely available?

We need you to purchase a "cup of coffee" worth of the book, but we don’t want to you to be forced into it. Hence, we have made if freely available.

We also feel that the diagrams are a great way to simplify what can be complicated concepts and these must be freely available.

Finally, it means that if you purchase the book for 1 cent, and then complain that it is only 4 pages, you don't really have much to complain about.

This Project is not about the book itself; it is about making a science book the best-selling book of all time.

Why is this book only 4 pages?

Well, it is really only 1 page of text with 4 diagrams.

This simplicity was hard to achieve in such a complex and wide-ranging topic. Even the Wikipedia article on this topic is 25 pages.

The authors believe that in another book, every line of text could be a page and each diagram a chapter. But they wanted this book to be as simple as possible, and 1 page of text is as simple as it gets.

Why have Batch 1 to Batch 5?

This project users Shopify for our infrastructure and there is a limit on the maximum products sold per product of 1 billion. So we created 5 batches and each batch allocates book numbers in a particular range:

• Batch 1 is 1 through 1 billion - 1
• Batch 2 is 1 billion + 1 through 2 billion - 1
• Batch 3 is 2 billion + 1 through 3 billion - 1
• Batch 4 is 3 billion + 1 through 4 billion - 1
• Batch 5 is 4 billion + 1 through 5 billion - 1
• Batch 6 gets the 5 gaps above (not yet available)
• Hardcover Edition is above 5 billion (not yet available)

Who is the author?

Laurence R Tyson is the pen name for a group of authors who work and study as engineers or scientists in their respective countries. They wish to remain anonymous because they believe The Process Of Science should not be associated with individuals and the authors name is not on the cover of the book.

How is the Project Funded

The project started in Nov 2022 and has hosting funding for 10 years.

We are hoping that all publishing costs are funded by a $0.80 USD fee per transaction. This is designed to cover many costs, but the big two are; financial costs associated with the transaction & marketing costs.
